Pistoia Blues Festival has been, for more than 30 years, one of the world’s most important musical events revolving around the blues world; during the last years blues has not been the only genre you could find here, every music genre ranging from rock to metal to mildly electronic can be played during the concerts of Pistoia Blues.
The first Pistoia Blues Festival took place in in 1980 featuring artists like B.B. King, Joe Williams And The Count Basie, Andy J.Forest Blues Band, De Funkt, Queen Ida, Alumni, Andy Way Blues, Pino Daniele, Mighty Joe Young, Dizzy Gillespie, Fats Domino, Muddy Waters and Alexis Korne.
From that first time until today Pistoia Blues has hosted an incredible variety of artist including the Deep Purple, Lenny Kravitz, Steve Vai, Patti Smith, Ben Harper and Robert Plant just to name a few.
The event, combined with the charming location, is something unique that only videos and photos can tell, but you have to be there to understand the real atmosphere of this festival.
Hundreds of ethnic stalls fill the streets, you’ll find artists performing on every corner and a crowded city centre: all this contributes to make this event special and unique, in a rather small city like Pistoia which boasts ancient buildings to surround the event.
Concerts are held in the Piazza del Duomo of Pistoia , in the center of the city.
